AlburyCity’s Code of Meeting Practice applies to all meetings of councils and committees of councils of which all the members are Councillors. The Code of Meeting Practice is intended to ensure all Council meetings are consistent, orderly and efficient, fair and respectful for all Councillors and other meeting participants and conducted with transparency.
Under the Local Government Act 1993 (the Act) a new Council must review the Code of Meeting Practice within 12 months of a new term. Councils must adopt a code of meeting practice based on the Office of Local Government’s Model Code of Meeting Practice for Local Councils in NSW, which includes both mandatory and non-mandatory provisions.
The draft Code of Meeting Practice was endorsed by Council for public exhibition on Monday 28 March, and will be publicly exhibited for 28 days with 42 days to lodge submissions. After community consultation, the draft Code of Meeting Practice will be reviewed in line with the Model Code of Meeting Practice and Council will reconsider AlburyCity’s draft Code of Meeting Practice should submissions from the public be forthcoming. If there are no public submissions the draft Code of Meeting Practice will become the endorsed Code and be available on the AlburyCity Public Policy Register.
We welcome your feedback on the DRAFT Code of Meeting Practice. Submissions will be received until 5:00 pm Tuesday 26 April 2022 and can be submitted via the form above or addressed to:
