We’re seeking community feedback on the proposed temporary Alcohol Free Zone (AFZ) and Alcohol Prohibited Area (APA) during the Chryslers on the Murray (COTM) annual three-day event for 2025 and 2026.
Guided by conversations with NSW Police and the Chryslers on the Murray event organisers, and in response to unsanctioned night-time cruising and associated anti-social behaviour along Wodonga Place during the event period, AlburyCity is proposing to establish a temporary Alcohol Free Zone and Alcohol Prohibited Area in order to reduce the significant public safety risk to observers.
It is proposed to establish:
- a temporary AFZ bound by Wodonga Place to the west at Union Bridge, Smollett Street to the north, Townsend Street to the east, and Nurigong Street to the south for the period of 5pm on Friday to 9am on Saturday, and from 5pm on Saturday to 9am on Sunday for the next two years of the Chryslers of the Murray event (blue area on the downloadable map located in the Document Library); and
- a temporary APA in the Albury Riverside Precinct, for the period 5pm on Friday to 9am on Saturday, and from 5pm on Saturday to 9am on Sunday for the next two years of the Chryslers of the Murray event (green area on the downloadable map located in the Document Library).
