We welcome your feedback on our Draft Commercial Activities on Public Land Policy and Procedure, which is now on public display.
These documents promote an appropriate balance of commercial activities on public land, to create vibrant commercial zones and deliver positive results to our community.
Endorsed by our Councillors for public exhibition, the policy was reviewed with input from stakeholders. The issues under review included fees for commercial operators trading on public land and the amount of time permitted for these activities over monthly periods.
The policy covers a range of commercial activities, some of which include:
- Advertising
- Busking
- Markets, festivals, and stalls,
- Outdoor dining
- Street vending, and
- Visitor tours
The proposed changes were incorporated into the policy after feedback from vendors and other interested parties was received.
The intention of the review is to provide easier procedures for vendors to set up businesses, creating services for our community to enjoy, while at the same time ensuring our public spaces remain open, accessible and enjoyable for the community.
Community members can make comment until 30 August, 2021, after which the documents will return to Council for further consideration.
