AlburyCity and Wodonga Council recognise the visitor economy’s contribution to the cities and the flow on benefits that come from being a recognised tourism destination.

The DRAFT Albury Wodonga Destination Management Plan is an evidence-based strategy that guides our visitor economy. It has now been finalised and includes actionable recommendations for the development of future strategies for destination management, infrastructure development and investment, and other potential opportunities to grow the economic contribution this vibrant sector makes to our local and regional economy.

The aspiration, attributes, challenges, and opportunities for developing Albury Wodonga’s visitor economy highlighted during stakeholder consultations and through the research and analysis, have been drawn upon to inform several proposed initiatives. Reflecting the roles and functions of AlburyCity and Wodonga Council as the custodians of the Plan, the five focus areas are:

  • Research, Marketing and Visitor Servicing
  • Visitor Economy Asset and Infrastructure Planning
  • Tourism Product and Experience Development
  • Festivals and Events Planning and Delivery
  • Visitor Economy Business and Industry Support
