Overview

Wonga Wetlands features a 590ha area of wetlands, bushwalking, sightseeing and birdwatching potential, just 5 minutes from Albury CBD. The site is used by the general public, school groups, and scientific researchers, learning about the riverine and wetland ecosystems. Traditionally, the site provided a source of fish, mussels, turtles, crayfish, snails and birds to the Wiradjuri people. The Wonga Wetlands Visitor Education Experience Centre to the north of the site will provide education on the traditional lifestyle of the Indigenous people of the area as well as valuable environmental education (particularly wetlands) for school groups and visitors.
